Why FatDCA exists
The FIRE community made a simple idea popular: save hard, invest steadily, and money stops being the thing that runs your life. FatFIRE added the ambition of doing it without giving up a comfortable lifestyle.
Most people will not get there with one brilliant trade. They get there with something far more boring: a fixed amount, invested every week or month, for years. That is dollar-cost averaging, and FatDCA exists to show, with real numbers, what it can turn into.
How we build the calculators
- Real prices, not made-up returns. Wherever we can, our calculators replay history using actual market data instead of asking you to guess a return.
- The dips stay in. Every backtest shows the worst drop you would have bought through, not just the happy ending.
- Assumptions in plain sight. Each calculator says what it includes and leaves out, such as fees, taxes and inflation.
- Your numbers stay with you. Calculations run in your browser. We do not collect what you type.

The calculators and guides are free. Some links to investing apps are affiliate links: if you open an account through one, the app may pay us a commission at no extra cost to you. Partners cannot pay to change our numbers or our guides. Read the full disclosure.
